Memphis Police have identified a suspect in the homicide of local rapper Sayso P, whose real name is Loran Hunt. The police department issued a warrant for 21-year-old Jaden Ddge, charging him with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of employing a firearm during a dangerous felony, and auto theft. These charges are linked to a shooting incident that occurred outside the Western Hotel on March 22, just after 2:40 p.m. The attack resulted in the death of Sayso P and injuries to Houston rapper Sauce Walka.
Video footage released by TMZ depicts the harrowing moments of the shooting. In the clip, two individuals exit a white vehicle and approach Sayso P and Sauce Walka, who were standing next to a black Escalade. Gunfire erupts, and Sayso P collapses to the ground while Sauce Walka is seen fleeing the scene. Although initial reports suggested that two gunmen emerged from the vehicle, the video evidence indicates that three individuals got out of the car, with one remaining inside.
The vehicle involved, identified as a stolen 2021 Dodge Charger 392 Scat Pack, was recovered shortly after the shooting. The police have announced a $6,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. They urge anyone with knowledge of Ddge’s whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers.
The police’s swift action in identifying the suspect comes as no surprise, given the downtown location of the incident. Many experts agree that crimes occurring in city centers are typically solved more rapidly due to the prevalence of surveillance cameras. Each step of the suspects’ movements is likely to have been captured on video, aiding law enforcement in their investigation.
Speculation surrounding the motives of the shooting has circulated on social media, with some alleging that Sauce Walka may have orchestrated the attack for insurance purposes. However, prior to the shooting, Sauce Walka had publicly defended Sayso P during a separate robbery attempt, further complicating the narrative. His actions during that incident indicated a willingness to protect his artist, casting doubt on claims of betrayal.
As the investigation continues, police remain focused on gathering evidence and pursuing leads. The community is urged to stay vigilant and report any information that could assist in bringing those responsible for this tragic incident to justice.
