Haaland officially surpasses Ronaldo and Messi

Erling Haaland has just reached the milestone of scoring 300 goals in just 370 professional matches, becoming the person to achieve this feat faster than Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Erling Haaland continued to affirm his class as a “goal machine” with a goal against Juventus in the final round of Group G of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, helping him reach the 300-goal mark at club and national team level after only 370 matches. This is an overwhelming achievement, completely surpassing contemporary football legends such as Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo or Kylian Mbappé.

In the match that took place in the early morning of June 27, coach Pep Guardiola decided to leave Haaland on the bench and give Omar Marmoush the chance to start. However, after a somewhat tense first half, Haaland was brought on at the beginning of the second half. It took only 7 minutes from entering the field for the Norwegian striker to score his first goal – a cool finish after only 3 touches of the ball, raising the score to 3-1 for Manchester City.

Haaland scores in Man City’s “destructive” victory over Juventus

Not only was this goal the goal that helped City break away against Juventus, but it was also a major milestone in Haaland’s career. With this goal, he increased his total number of goals to 300, after playing a total of 370 matches for Molde, RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and the Norwegian national team.

According to ESPN, Haaland reached the 300-goal mark significantly faster than Cristiano Ronaldo (554 matches), Lionel Messi (418 matches) and Kylian Mbappé (409 matches). Along with 61 assists, Haaland’s contribution performance shows comprehensiveness and stability in each season, regardless of changes in playing environment or opponents.

At Manchester City alone, Haaland has scored 123 goals in just 145 games – an unbelievable scoring rate in modern football. He is the driving force in Man City’s journey to conquer the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Norwegian striker reaches 300 goals much faster than Messi and Ronaldo

A 5-2 win over Juventus saw the English side top Group G and face the runners-up in Group H in the round of 16 on July 1. With Real Madrid leading Group H and RB Salzburg second, City are likely to face Salzburg in the knockout stages.

Haaland’s new record is not only proof that he is surpassing Messi and Ronaldo in terms of scoring speed, but also raises a big question: Can the striker born in 2000 break other legendary milestones in the future? With his current form, the answer could be “yes”.
