THE MOMENT Henry Nowak’s killer repeatedly lied to cops while the student lay dying has been revealed in shocking new footage.
The new footage shows killer Vickrum Digwa, 23, lying to officers, falsely insisting he had been “racially attacked” by Henry.
He told police Henry “pushed my turban off myhead, started grabbing my hair” and called him a racial slur.
But in reality, Digwa had brutally stabbed the 18-year-old university student five times in a random attack in Southampton, Hampshire last December.
When asked how Henry got a wound on his face, Digwa did not tell police he had stabbed his multiple times.
In the new video, the murderer first plays dumb, asking: “What wound, sorry?”
Then he goes on: “Must have been when we punched him.”
Digwa told officers he and his brother had got into an altercation with Henry after he had started attacking them – which was not true.
He further claimed that Henry had injured himself by clambering over bins before falling over and landing on a car.
The timecode on the video suggests Henry had stopped breathing 13 minutes before the relaxed questioning.
He was behind the fence dying, receiving CPR while Digwa was spouting his lies.
At 11.55pm, the officer wearing the camera decides to arrest Digwa on suspicion of attempted murder.
The officer said: “You’ve got your side of the story mate. We don’t know what’s gone on here, ok?”
At no point in the video is Digwa handcuffed.
The cop says: “I’m not saying you’ve done anything mate, but we need to find out what’s happened, ok?”
Digwa replies by repeating his lies: “Mate, I’ve been racially attacked.”
Police did not believe Henry’s pleas that he had been stabbed and couldn’t breathe until it was too late – he died that night.
Southampton Crown Court had heard Digwa accused Henry of making racist remarks in a “wicked lie” as cops arrived.
Digwa denied murder and possession of a bladed article, but was found guilty of murder and carrying a knife in public.
But this month he was jailed for life with a minimum of 21 years behind bars for the vile murder – and the chilling case sparked fury.
Previously released bodycam footage showed cops ignoring the Harry’s pleas for help and arresting him as Digwa accused his victim of making racist remarks.
The teenager was even heard in the clip saying “I can’t breathe” as well as “I’ve been stabbed” – but police continued to arrest him.
One of the officers then bluntly replies: “You’ve been stabbed? Whereabouts? Don’t think you have mate.”
A longer transcript of the harrowing video later revealed the moment officers discovered the desperate teen was telling the truth.
Attending officers had arrived at the scene three minutes prior and had just called for an ambulance.
Moments later, they discover the first-year finance student is not breathing, prompting more concern and urgency in their response.
They then call for a medic or an armed response vehicle – which has a defibrillator – before moving him and attempting CPR.
A female officer begins compressions, before a male colleague takes over and urges bystanders to stand back.
Another officer radios for an ambulance, saying Henry is “unconscious”.
CPR continues as the male officers begs the teen several times to “stay with me” as colleagues offer to take over.
He pauses briefly, before Henry is described as “lifeless” and a female officer shines a torch on the student.
At this point, South Central Ambulance Service crews have just arrived on the scene, but the panicked officers continue to give urgent aid.
One can be heard saying “he’s gone”, before another cuts open the student’s clothes, revealing the extent of his injuries.
Cops then say they have “just discovered a stab wound” – roughly eight minutes after arriving – as paramedics prepare to take over.
Medical teams battled to save Henry’s life for almost an hour, before an emergency doctor declared the teen dead at 12.37am.
Hampshire Police is currently being investigated by the IOPC, the police watchdog, over Henry’s arrest.
Sir Keir Starmer said he “felt sick” watching the bodycam footage, while Nigel Farage blasted cops who believed the Sikh killer’s “racist attack” lie.
Solicitor General Ellie Reeves has since referred the case to the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient scheme, saying it “horrified me”.
She said: “It is right that difficult questions need to be answered about the way the police handled Henry’s Nowak’s murder, while my role is to review Digwa’s sentence for his crimes.
“After careful consideration, I have taken the decision to refer this case to the Court of Appeal.
“No sentence can ever undo the devastation that Henry’s family have suffered, or fill the void left by his loss.
“But I hope this referral goes some way towards bringing them the justice they deserve.”
