In a ππ½πΈπΈππΎππ turn of events, Kiran Kaur has been sentenced to prison for her role in the tragic murder of 18-year-old Henry Nowak. On December 3, 2025, Kaur reportedly assisted her son, who has been convicted of the crime, by removing the murder weapon from the scene and taking it back to their family home.
Her son, 23-year-old Digwa, was handed a life sentence on June 1, with a minimum of 21 years behind bars, after he initially misled authorities by claiming that Nowak had racially insulted him. During the sentencing, Judge William Mousley KC expressed disappointment in Kaur’s actions, stating that a responsible parent would have confronted their child about such serious behavior rather than helping to conceal it. Instead, Kaur placed the knife among a collection of ceremonial and other weapons in her sonβs bedroom, which may have further obscured the truth of what had occurred.
Reports from Southampton Crown Court reveal that Digwa confessed to the stabbing while he was in a prison van with his brother, Gurpreet Digwa, after initially denying his involvement. He had previously told police that he was the victim of a racial attack, but less than 48 hours later, he admitted to fatally stabbing Nowak, a finance student at the University of Southampton.
During the trial, it was revealed that Digwa had a collection of Sikh knives in the bedroom he shared with his brother. Allegedly skilled in handling weapons from a young age, he used a kirpan to inflict five stab wounds on Nowak, including a devastating 8cm deep wound to his chest. Disturbingly, Digwa even recorded the moments following the attack as Nowak attempted to escape, leaving a trail of blood in his wake.
Tragically, Nowak succumbed to his injuries approximately 57 minutes after being handcuffed by police, who were responding to the scene. The details surrounding this case have left many questioning the circumstances that led to such a heartbreaking loss of life.
As the community grapples with the aftermath, one must wonder: what could have been done differently to prevent this tragedy?
