Testimony on day three of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial took a raw turn as shaken first responders broke down on the stand, describing the heartbreaking sight they walked into at her Massachusetts home.
The former labor and delivery nurse is charged with murdering her three children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan—on the night of January 24, 2023. Police say she strangled them in the basement before harming herself and jumping from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed and in a wheelchair.
On Thursday, Duxbury police officers recalled arriving to find the children lying motionless on the floor. One officer was seen covering his face and crying while giving his account. According to court testimony, the children’s father, Patrick, was frantic and “losing himself” after discovering the scene.
Crime scene photos shown in court revealed blood on the basement floor and a yellow exercise band—the one Patrick reportedly removed from Dawson’s neck—lying just feet away from toys.
Lindsay’s defense team argues she was not criminally responsible, claiming she suffered from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings. Earlier this week, Patrick testified about what he described as a “compelling and unrecognizable” voice Lindsay said told her to harm the children.
