MANCHESTER CITY were on cloud nine following their historic victory over Inter Milan.
The Premier League champions claimed their first Champions League title with a 1-0 win over the Italian giants at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul.
Rodri’s second-half strike sealed a historic treble for Pep Guardiola’s troops, who partied long into the night after finally getting their hands on the holy grail. And they documented their wild post-match celebrations on social media for the world, and their millions of followers, to see.
It didn’t take long for City’s stars to start sinking the drinks on offer in the dressing room. And, unsurprisingly, Jack Grealish was at the centre of the boozy antics – sinking cans of Heineken and bottles of Ashahi.
There was plenty of dressing room dancing from the new champions of Europe. Hero of the match Rodri was hailed by his team-mates to the tune of ‘Freed From Desire’ and beer and champagne were sprayed in the air as the chorus kicked in.
Once the dancing died down, the players began to take photos with the most coveted trophy in club football. But Grealish led some of his team-mates, friends and family members to a nightclub to continue their celebrations.
The England international shared footage of himself and his pals in the venue dancing to ‘Location’ by Brit rapper Dave to his Instagram story. And Formula One star – George Russell – who was in attendance at the Ataturk – was seen partying alongside the Brummie winger.
Most of City’s stars shared a snaps of themselves with their winners’ medals and the trophy to their Instagram accounts. Kalvin Phillips – who was benched for the match – took a selfie with his medal in the dressing room and wrote: “Greatest team ever.”
He later followed that up with a smiley snap of himself, Erling Haaland and John Stones – the latter of him who he dubbed “The Barnsley Beckenbauer.”
Kevin De Bruyne – who hobbled off injured in the first half – shared a snap of the trophy atop his head with the accompanying caption: “Got me a new hat.” The Belgian followed that up with a picture of himself and Gundogan looking at the trophy, writing: ” I think it says….. MANCHESTER CITY!!!!.”
Star man of City’s historic treble Haaland – who ended the season with 52 goals in 53 appearances – also toasted his incredible campaign on Instagram. The Norwegian shared a snap of himself proudly holding the trophy in the dressing room with his 31.6million followers, although he didn’t include a caption.
Haaland wasn’t seen boozing, but he was one of the last men standing judging from his Instagram story.
The former Borussia Dortmund hitman shared a snap of himself puffing on an expensive-looking cigar at 7:00 am this morning. And, unsurprisingly, party animal Grealish kept him company as the sun rose on the Manchester City era of European football.
Haaland shared a selfie of the duo to his story with the accompanying caption: “Love this guy…. @jackgrealish.”
Goalkeeper Ederson was also enjoying himself, and was spotted with a beer in hand as he left the team hotel this morning. Victory over Inter ended Guardiola’s 12-year wait to get his hands back on the Champions League trophy.
After the final whistle, the Spaniard said: “I’m tired, calm and satisfied. It’s so difficult to win. It was written in the stars. It belongs to us.”
