The family of former Miss North Carolina USA Brittany Boltinhouse is firing back, accusing pageant officials of prioritizing their own reputation over the truth after she was stripped of her crown this week.
In their first public comments since the sudden dethronement, a relative told the Daily Mail that the organization is simply trying to “save face.” The family member said they are taking time to pray and plan a response “in a manner that God calls us to,” while stressing the importance of getting the proper narrative out.
Boltinhouse, 27, was officially removed from her title Wednesday after A-Blaize Productions, the group behind the Miss North Carolina USA pageant, said a thorough review of “recently surfaced information” led to the decision.
According to reports, the former beauty queen allegedly used the N-word multiple times and referred to herself as “toxic” in old social media posts under the handle Sosa the Stallion, dating back to 2017 through 2019. Boltinhouse has not yet addressed the allegations publicly.
The fallout has sent shockwaves through the pageant community. Fellow contestant Alexis Yearde, who competed alongside Boltinhouse in June, told The Post the situation has “caused a lot of pain.” Yearde said she stands with the Miss USA organization’s decision, but added, “I hope that she learns and uses this opportunity to become better educated.”
Miss USA President and CEO Thom Brodeur has urged the public to show mercy, writing on Instagram that Boltinhouse “has been named, examined, and judged in public in a way that most of us would not survive.” He noted that her conduct was “not a single moment” but spanned an extended period, and said she is expected to issue her own statement soon.
The crown has already been passed to first runner-up Myla Hadley, who will now represent North Carolina at the 75th annual Miss USA competition in Miami starting August 24. Hadley expressed gratitude for the support but stayed silent on the controversy surrounding her predecessor.
As the pageant world waits for Boltinhouse to finally speak, one question lingers: what will she say when she does?
