Forget the megayacht – here’s the FLYING yacht: Concept reveals craft with top deck that transforms into a helicopter and private jet

For the megarich, a giant yacht is great – but isn’t it a hassle also having a fleet of private jets as well?

Now, one designer has solved the concept – with a built in helicopter that can also convert into a jet. The Russian designer behind the project believes it will take to the skies in 2050.

The Monaco 2050 concept has an entire top desk that can transform into a private jet plane
The aircraft can rise up using rotos, allowing it to be used as a helicopter – or fire jet engines

The concept is the brainchild of Russian designer Vasily Klyukin.

‘When designing the yacht of the future, I decided to call it Monaco 2050 – the year I predict the emergence of the first yacht of this type,’ he said.

‘The upper deck is part of the yacht and an independent aircraft at the same time,’ he explained.

When needed, it will rise upwards with the help of the screws embedded in the wings, becoming a helicopter. For the super rich, however, this still wasn’t enough.

‘However, the helicopter on top of the yacht is not an innovation anymore, furthermore it’s difficult to cross the Atlantic or to fly to Hong Kong by helicopter. Therefore, after gaining the necessary altitude and speed, it’s possible to turn on the jet engines and even go overseas.’

The aircraft is designed to be left on top of the yatch, where it can offer extra rooms

‘In fact, we shouldn’t really have to wait for 35 years. Such a yacht can be started even today: the development of drone technology and the current achievements of the helicopter industry allow the aircraft to reach the desired height, and only then, at the altitude of 1000-2000 meters, it can be switched to the jet engines. I’m convinced that I will definitely make it in my life and I will fly by such a yacht. ‘
