In a chilling turn of events, a missing nurse was discovered gagged and chained to a bed in a disturbing rescue that has shocked Brazil. Emiliane Tamara Nunes Carvalho, 24, was found by police after allegedly being kidnapped and assaulted by her former partner, Ailton Rodrigues de Souza.
The harrowing incident unfolded in Águas Lindas de Goiás, where authorities responded to a desperate scream coming from a residence. Footage obtained by Jam Press reveals the moment police forced their way into a bedroom, uncovering Carvalho in a state of fear, bound and wearing a gas mask.
Carvalho, a nursing technician, had gone missing on August 17 after meeting de Souza to discuss their children. Instead of a peaceful conversation, she reportedly faced a terrifying attack that led to her being held captive for five days. Sources indicate that de Souza allegedly drugged her, restrained her with ropes and chains, and subjected her to horrific treatment until her rescue on August 21.
According to a statement from the Military Police, Carvalho was found with her limbs and neck bound, struggling to breathe and showing signs of oxygen deprivation. Evidence at the scene suggested that de Souza had intended to keep her confined for an extended period.
Following her rescue, de Souza was arrested and is facing serious charges, including kidnapping and rape, as reported by Correio Braziliense. Carvalho was hospitalized but has since been released, although she continues to experience pain and dizziness.
In a courageous move, Carvalho has chosen to share her story publicly to shine a light on the issue of domestic violence. Reflecting on her past relationship, she revealed that she ended things with de Souza in December 2025 after five years together.
“I don’t know if it was love, if it was addiction… it was emotional dependence,” she shared, emphasizing how she overlooked warning signs at a young age. “Love is blind, we don’t see it.”
