In a 𝓈𝒽𝓸𝒸𝓀𝒾𝓃𝑔 turn of events, four teenagers from New Jersey are at the center of a tragic incident after allegedly stealing a luxury 2024 Mercedes-Benz G Wagon valued at $220,000. Their reckless joyride ended in a devastating crash that claimed the lives of two beloved individuals, a grandmother and her longtime partner.
The 𝒹𝓇𝒶𝓂𝒶 unfolded early Saturday morning when the teens reportedly took off in the high-end SUV. Their joyride took a dark turn around 8 a. m.
as they sped down the wrong side of the road in Mays Landing, ultimately colliding head-on with a Hyundai sedan. The impact was so severe that the sedan was sent crashing into a nearby gas station, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Tragically, the crash resulted in the deaths of 67-year-old Alice Stilwell and her partner, 54-year-old Robert Barr, Jr., both residents of Egg Harbor Township. Friends and family have described Stilwell as a cherished mother and grandmother, with a GoFundMe campaign launched to assist with funeral expenses highlighting the community’s grief.
While the teens reportedly escaped the wreck with minor injuries, they attempted to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended by law enforcement. The police had been pursuing the stolen vehicle since around 3:40 a. m.
after it sped past an officer in Longport. Just minutes before the crash, officers in Hamilton Township lost sight of the G Wagon during the chase.
Eighteen-year-old Nayshaun Brown and three other minors, whose identities remain undisclosed, now face serious charges including conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, joyriding, and eluding police. The investigation is ongoing, and it remains unclear who was driving at the time of the fatal collision.
