With one hit superhero franchise on her hands with Wonder Woman and the upcoming Wonder Woman 1984, Gal Gadot is moving into the spy game now.

The 35-year-old Israeli actress has signed on to star in the new spy thriller Heart of Stone, which is being eyed to launch a new franchise, according to Deadline.

The reported eight-figure deal she has signed for the film puts her among the top tier of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.

While no story details were unveiled, the project is said to put a female spin on the spy genre in the same vein as the James Bond and Mission: Impossible franchises.

The project hails from David Ellison’s Skydance Productions, which is no stranger to the spy game, having produced and financed the last three Mission: Impossible movies.

They also produced the Amazon Studios spy series Jack Ryan and the Jack Reacher franchise starring Tom Cruise as well.

Perhaps more importantly, though, Skydance has also produced female-lead action films, such as Terminator: Dark Fate, starring Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes and Linda Hamilton, and this summer’s The Old Guard starring Charlize Theron.

Heart of Stone has another connection to The Old Guard as well, with the script being written by Greg Rucka, who wrote both the screenplay adaptation and the graphic novel series the movie was based on.

Rucka will co-write the Heart of Stone script with Allison Schroeder, who shared a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar nomination for Hidden Figures with Ted Melfi.

Tom Harper has been attached to direct the action-thriller, who directed The Aeronauts last year for Amazon Studios.

Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce alongside Gadot and Jason Varsano from her Pilot Wave production company, plus Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.

Skydance is reportedly ‘keeping options open’ on whether the film will be released theatrically or through a streaming service.

It was recently revealed that Gadot’s highly-anticipated sequel Wonder Woman 1984 will debut both in theaters and on the HBO Max streaming service simultaneously on Christmas Day.

She also stars as Linnet Ridgeway Doyle in Disney/Fox’s Death on the Nile, which was pushed into 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The actress also has Red Notice in post-production for Netflix, where she stars alongside Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.
