Drake has purchased a sprawling $15million ranch in Texas – as the rapper lays down roots outside Toronto following a number of security scares and a shooting at his mansion in the Canadian city,
The Rich Flex star, 37, acquired The Inn at Dos Brisas in Chappell Hill, a 313-acre resort which comes complete with private casitas and haciendas, in October last year, per RoundTop.com. The resort is one hour from Houston.
The resort – which was built in 2002 and spans 14,000 square feet – boasts a tennis court, an equestrian facility, an organic farm, and restaurant with a 7,000-bottle wine cellar.
The luxe haciendas on the ranch also feature private pools and floor-to-ceiling windows with the resort itself boasting pecan trees, wildflowers, three ponds and a creek.
The Inn closed in 2022 amid Covid-related losses and was previously ranked as one of the best hotels in Texas and had the only Forbes five-star rated restaurant in the state.
It is currently unknown if the rapper plans to bring the resort back as a business venture or reside there himself.
This comes after one of the musician’s security guards was left fighting for his life after being shot in a drive-by shooting outside the star’s $100million mansion in Toronto this week.
Two intruders later tried to gain access to the home in separate incidents days later.
An intruder allegedly attempted to enter the mansion on Thursday afternoon, marking the second run-in with an intruder in two days.
The latest scare comes after police detained a person trying to get onto the property on Wednesday.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, law enforcement received a call about a man who was trespassing the 37-year-old rapper’s property, the Toronto Police Service told TMZ.
DailyMail.com has reached out to Drake’s representatives for comment.
The run-in follows a drive-by shooting that put one of the former Degrassi actor’s security guards in the hospital, and the violence comes amid the hitmaker’s widely publicized feud with fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar, 36.
Drake’s security detail reportedly got into a physical altercation with the trespasser and subdued him before the police arrived.
The latest intruder was taken to a hospital after police arrived, though the extent of his possible injuries is unclear.
The first hint that something had gone amiss at Drake’s mansion in Toronto came after an Instagram video was posted on Thursday.
The clip was shot from a moving vehicle that apparently drove by the mansion, revealing that an ambulance was parked out front by the curb.
The clip opens with a brief burst of a Kendrick Lamar song on the stereo before someone in the vehicle turns the music off.
The Toronto Police Service said it is investigating the circumstances around the alleged break-in attempt on Thursday.
It’s unclear if there’s any connection between either of the two intruders or the drive-by shooting to Drake’s ugly back-and-forth with Lamar, which has been carried out via diss tracks.
Although the police mentioned that they were aware of the feud, they said there wasn’t currently any indication that the incidents were related.
An intruder previously tried to break into Drake’s $100 million mansion on Wednesday, just one day after his security guard was shot in the vicinity.
The Toronto Police Service told DailyMail.com that a person tried to access the Bridle Path property and ended up brawling with security officers outside.
They added that the intruder, who has not been named, was detained under the Mental Health Act. In Ontario this law allows police to take people into custody if they are posing a threat to others or themselves.
Police said the Wednesday intrusion is not linked to the shooting.
Drake is said to be ‘cooperating’ with investigators.
The incident unfolded in the upscale neighborhood of Bridle Path shortly after 2 a.m. on Tuesday, as the unnamed 48-year-old man was rushed to hospital after being found ‘outside the gates of the home’ with life-threatening injuries.
He was reportedly lured outside the home by a car blaring loud music.
Toronto Police told DailyMail.com they could not confirm if the rapper was home at the time of the shooting.
A suspect fled the scene in a vehicle, and reports indicate they are still at large.
Sources told the Toronto Sun that the victim was Drake’s security guard, and witnesses said he was shot multiple times during a ‘drive-by shooting.’
The area around Drake’s mansion, built by the star in 2015 for a reported $100 million, was restricted by a police perimeter amid the ongoing investigation.
The victim was said to have been ‘standing outside the gates of the home’ when he was hit by several gunshots, and was found on the street with serious injuries.
He was raced to Sunnybrook Hospital and received emergency surgery, with one of the wounds believed to be to the upper chest. Officials later described his condition as ‘life threatening.’
Around an hour earlier, a man was shot dead and a woman was injured in another shooting in Oakwood Village, roughly nine miles away. It is unclear if the two shootings are related.
Earlier reports from police said the shooting occurred several streets away, but the information was later corrected to state it was outside the rapper’s home. Sources told CP24 that Drake has offered to cooperate with investigators as they probe the shooting.
A heavy police presence was seen outside the mansion throughout Tuesday, with police appearing to take items to and from the home.
The location of the shooting at Drake’s Toronto mansion comes amid his ongoing feud with rival rapper Kendrick Lamar, who used the same mansion to taunt Drake this week.
As the two men have released ‘diss tracks’ against each other the last few weeks, Lamar shared the cover for his track Not Like Us, featuring Drake’s mansion covered in markers for a sex offender app.
At a Tuesday press conference, Inspector Paul Krawczyk said there is no known evidence at this time that the shooting is related to Drake’s viral feud with Lamar, and the motive remains unclear.
‘It is so early in the investigation that we don’t have a motive at this time,’ he said.
The suspect in the shooting fled the scene, police said, and investigators have yet to release any descriptions of either the gunman or the vehicle.
Discussions to set up police interviews inside the huge mansion are taking place, reports the Toronto Sun.
Drake — real name Aubrey Graham — made headlines when he set out to build the palatial home in 2015, and purchased the plot of land it sits on for $6.7 million.
He then spent a reported $100 million constructing the huge estate, which is situated on one of the highest value streets in all of Canada.
The artist is known to be private around details with his residence, although he has occasionally offered fans a glimpse at the luxury property on social media, including showing his private basketball court.
The shooting in the early hours of Tuesday is not the first time the home has been involved in serious incidents.
On March 30, 2021, a woman was arrested outside the mansion after allegedly attacking a security guard with a knife.
