With transfer fees at all-time highs, there’s a lot of pressure on players to perform and they don’t always live up to expectations. Some manage to turn the tide and try to make their move right, but we often see clubs selling players for less when they try to cut their losses.”
Fans also think that, in Scotland, Celtic are considered the smartest transfer club, while their rival club Rangers is the worst transfer. With the summer transfer window now open, research conducted through OnePoll shows Tottenham’s Harry Kane is the player fans want the most, more than any other. And a third of football fans in the survey want to see Harry Kane leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window in search of trophies.
Up to 32% think Kane should leave Tottenham, while 28% believe Harry Maguire should leave Old Trafford. Among supporters of a particular Premier League team, 71% believe their team needs to invest in more players in the upcoming transfer window, with an average of £91m.
And they believe a striker (37%) should be preferred, followed by an attacking midfielder (33%) and a centre-back (29%). 83% of all those polled think that the amount of money spent on football players has gotten out of control.
76% think that the English Football Association (FA) should do more to regulate the spending levels of English clubs in the transfer market. Fans believe that the club’s manager (51%) should be responsible for handling the player buying process, rather than the sporting director (16%), technical director (5%) or CEO (5%).
A CopyBet spokesperson added: “This summer transfer window is likely to be busier than ever, with many records expected to be broken. Speculation about which players will leave and where they will go is rife and this will only increase in the coming weeks.
