33-Years-Owned 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 4-Speed

This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302 was built in October 1969 and was purchased by the seller in 1990. A subsequent multi-year refurbishment is said to have included rebuilding the 302ci V8 and replacement four-speed manual transmission, repainting the body in yellow, and refreshing the black vinyl interior. Equipment includes a Traction-Lok differential, chrome bumpers, a front spoiler, “hockey stick” graphics, rear window louvers, a rear spoiler, 15″ wheels, a heater, a Hurst shifter, Classic Auto Air climate control, a RetroSound stereo, and Hertz speakers. This Boss 302 is now offered with a build sheet, owner’s manual, Marti report, and a clean Oregon title in the seller’s name.

Finished from the factory in yellow, the car was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment, at which time dents were removed from around the body. Features include black Boss 302 “hockey-stick” side stripes and hood stripes, a front spoiler, dual side mirrors, a rear spoiler, rear window louvers, and dual exhaust outlets.

Chrome-accented Magnum 500 15″ wheels are mounted with 245/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted front discs and rear drums. Total Control rack-and-pinion steering components have been added.

The refreshed cabin houses high-back bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black vinyl accompanied by a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. Additional appointments include a Hurst T-handle shifter, Mustang-branded floor mats, Classic Auto Air climate control, a RetroSound stereo, and Hertz speakers.

The steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level, while AutoMeter gauges for oil pressure and water temperature are mounted on the A-pillar. The five-digit odometer shows 1k miles, and approximately 3k miles were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 302ci V8 is said to have been rebuilt and balanced under current ownership, and it is fitted with a K&N air filter, an MSD ignition, a 7-quart oil pan, stainless steel headers, and a Comp Cams vacuum canister reservoir.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transmission reportedly sourced from a Mercury Cougar and fitted with close-ratio gears. A Traction-Lok differential with 3.91:1 gearing was included from the factory and was rebuilt under current ownership.
