Stephen Miller calls on GOP governors to build immigrant detention facilities

In a bold and controversial move, former Trump aide Stephen Miller has called on Republican governors across the nation to establish immigrant detention facilities, citing a growing crisis in the U.S. immigration system. Speaking on national television, Miller emphasized the urgent need for these facilities, which he claims can house up to 3,000 detainees, as the Biden administration struggles to manage an influx of illegal crossings.

Miller’s remarks come as Florida prepares to welcome its first group of detainees as early as tomorrow. He defended the facilities, asserting they would provide adequate medical care and security for both detainees and staff. “This is about public safety,” he stated, referencing the need to detain individuals he described as “dangerous criminals and cartel thugs.”

The call to action has ignited fierce backlash from Democrats, who denounce the plan as inhumane and politically motivated. Critics argue that Miller’s approach dehumanizes migrants and exacerbates an already fraught situation. Florida Democratic representatives have labeled the initiative as “political theater,” accusing Republicans of using immigration as a scapegoat to rally their base.

Miller urged GOP governors to collaborate with the Department of Homeland Security to expedite the construction of similar facilities in their states, framing it as a necessary step to combat what he calls an “invasion” of illegal aliens. He is pushing for Congress to pass a sweeping immigration bill that would fund these efforts, insisting that failure to act would jeopardize American safety and security.

As the debate intensifies, the nation watches closely, with the potential for this initiative to reshape the immigration landscape and ignite further political turmoil. The clock is ticking, and the implications of these developments could reverberate far beyond state lines.
