‘UNHINGED’: Hillary Clinton hammers Trump over DC crime crackdown

In a fiery clash over crime in the nation’s capital, Hillary Clinton has unleashed a scathing attack on Donald Trump’s aggressive law enforcement measures in Washington, D.C. The former Secretary of State labeled Trump “unhinged” as he pushes for a controversial crackdown, deploying 800 National Guard troops and placing local police under federal control for 30 days. “Crime in D.C. is ending today,” Trump declared, vowing to eradicate violence and restore safety.

However, Clinton countered with stark statistics, asserting that violent crime in D.C. is actually at a 30-year low, challenging Trump’s justification for his heavy-handed tactics. She cited a Department of Justice press release that undermines Trump’s narrative, while Democratic leaders like Hakeem Jeffries echoed her sentiments, questioning the validity of Trump’s claims and his credibility on law and order.

The tension escalated as Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares weighed in, criticizing Trump’s approach and highlighting the impact of D.C.’s crime on neighboring Virginia. He pointed to tragic incidents, including the stabbing death of a concert-goer, as evidence of the urgent need for reform. Miyares touted his own state’s successful initiatives, claiming a 66% drop in crime in cities that targeted repeat offenders.

As the debate rages, Trump’s proposal to prosecute teenagers as young as 14 as adults has sparked outrage, with critics warning it could exacerbate an already troubled juvenile justice system. With D.C.’s homicide rate alarmingly six times higher than New York City, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The battle over crime in the capital is intensifying, and both sides are gearing up for a fierce political showdown. The question remains: will Trump’s drastic measures bring the safety he promises, or will they deepen the divide in a city already fraught with tension?
