Tyrone was in the café, and Chesney couldn’t let it go. “He couldn’t remember seeing Summer, and then suddenly he did,” Chesney said. “It’s a bit odd, isn’t it? ” I just shrugged it off.

People forget things, especially after a drink. But Chesney wasn’t having it. “It’s hardly small, seeing Summer and then forgetting about it until she was arrested and banged up. ” I told him it wasn’t really his business.
He left to make tea, and I hoped that would be the end of it. It wasn’t. Later, Gary came in, saying he’d had DI Kev Pecking his head all day about the statement. “He says, ‘So, you don’t remember seeing someone?
Now all of a sudden you do. ’” I hated it. But what else could we do? We had to stick with the story.
“Well, we can’t tell the truth, can we? Because we know what Kevin would do to Carl. ” We just had to hope it all blew over. The sisters were planning a holiday to Spain, all excited about a villa.
Debbie had booked it for the girls, no misters. But when the time came for the toast, Debbie dropped the bombshell. “I love you all, and this is absolutely gorgeous, but I’m not coming to Spain. ” She said she’d spoil it for everyone, that they’d be watching over her, making sure she didn’t disappear in a strange place.
She wanted them to go without her, to send her pictures. Ronnie was heartbroken, saying they wanted her there, but Debbie insisted it was what she wanted. The atmosphere was heavy, a mix of disappointment and love. Meanwhile, Sam was struggling.
He was playing his zombie game, talking strangely about the “thing of five” and someone who would kill us all. He was talking in riddles, jumping at shadows. He locked himself in the flat, convinced that Will was trying to trick him. When Roy came to help, Sam went into a frenzy, hitting Roy with a chair.
He ran off, and nobody knew where he was. His dad and everyone else were frantic. Sam was hallucinating, seeing Roy as a threat, speaking in chess moves and threats. Carla found him eventually, trying to calm him down.
Sam kept saying they were all out to get him, that they were trying to poison him. Carla knew he was in psychosis. She brought him back, but he didn’t trust anyone, especially not Roy. Debbie was in her own quiet struggle.
She was scared about the future, about her dementia getting worse. She was watching her life get smaller and smaller. Ronnie tried to reassure her, but Debbie felt the walls closing in. “This is me now, isn’t it?
” she said. “My life is just going to get smaller and smaller. ” Ronnie tried to comfort her, but you could see she was terrified. Sarah was dealing with her own pressure.
Kit was sniffing around again, and she was trying to keep her secrets buried. She was worried about being triggered, but she insisted she was fine. She wasn’t. And on top of it all, she was trying to keep Gary close, knowing he was lying about his whereabouts.
“Look, there’s nothing to know, and I’m not keeping anything from you,” he said, but it wasn’t true. We both knew it.
