His body was recovered from the waters nearby on July 6 after a thorough two-day search. The photo in question, which has gone 𝓿𝒾𝓇𝒶𝓁, was mistakenly thought to have been taken after his disappearance, with some claiming it showed him at a “land-based pool party” shortly before 1 a.m. on July 5.
However, according to reports and metadata analysis, the image was actually captured on June 27, a week before Wells’ tragic boating incident. Tracestin Shepherd, a close friend of Wells, confirmed that the gathering took place in Pass Christian, Mississippi, and not on the day of Wells’ disappearance.
The confusion escalated when Crump shared the photo on social media, suggesting it could be a clue in the ongoing investigation. “The streets are talking! Now listen, I don’t know if these are facts or rumors because no official statements have been confirmed,” Crump wrote, emphasizing the need to follow all leads until the truth emerges.
Shepherd expressed his dismay at how the photo was used to fuel wild theories about Wells’ death. He described the situation as “unbelievable” and “heartbreaking,” noting that the image was part of an Instagram post that had been deleted once it became a focal point for speculation.
In addition to the pool party photo, another video reportedly shows Wells in a heated exchange on the island, demanding his phone back. Shepherd has clarified that the voice in the video is his, not Wells’, and insists that the argument did not involve his friend.
