Oscar-winning actress Angelina Jolie admits she got into acting simply because she wanted to help her late mother Marcheline Bertrand pay the bills.

She explained: “My personality has many things that are not suitable for me as an actress. I was very happy to be able to be an actor – I am extremely lucky – but when my mother passed away, I realized it was because of her. I felt very different after my mother left.
“I think, when I started acting, overall, it was a good thing. It’s a job, and I want to help my mom pay the bills.
“The work is very creative, helps you discover different history, different people, different sides of yourself, learn more skills. A great job to grow and become a person. But sometimes you’re not really that person.”
Jolie , 42, admits she struggled to cope with the pressures of fame during her Hollywood career. The actress, now turned director, said that when she first became famous, she was too immature to face the scrutiny of the public.

“You’re young and don’t know exactly who you are, and then a mic is put right in front of you. You are only 17 or 18 years old and people ask for your opinion, while you have no idea yet.”
In the late 90s, Jolie even temporarily left her acting career to attend New York University. Of that experience, she recalls: “I was ready for another life… I did what everyone said I should do. That’s what will make you happy, right? No, I’m very miserable. I’m not happy at all.”
