A California mother of seven went missing after visiting her ex-boyfriend’s home, and what police uncovered there has left a community shaken.
Tatiana McIntyre, also known as Alison Riley, was last seen heading to Jeffrey Vernon Michaels’ residence in Fresno on Tuesday to see their two children. When she failed to pick up one of her kids from school the next day, alarms started ringing.
Her ex-husband stepped in after being notified the child was still waiting, but his attempts to reach her went nowhere. Relatives became frantic as her phone reportedly pinged at Michaels’ home around 1 p. m.
before going silent.
Family members tracked the Zipcar she was driving to a nearby orchard, where they found it abandoned with her belongings still inside. Police later seized it as evidence.
Investigators then executed a search warrant at Michaels’ home, located near Grove and Phillip streets. Inside, authorities say they found McIntyre’s body with multiple lacerations, according to officials.
Michaels reportedly fled the area after the incident but turned himself in to police on Thursday evening. He’s now being held at Fresno County Jail on a murder charge, with bail set at $1 million.
Police Chief Mindy Casto said a motive has not yet been determined, according to reports. McIntyre’s mother alleged a history of 𝓪𝓫𝓾𝓼𝓮, claiming Michaels once choked her daughter and refused to let her leave. Family sources say there were prior domestic violence concerns.
The 29-year-old leaves behind seven children, including two she shared with Michaels. A GoFundMe page has been set up to cover funeral costs and support the kids.
