A dog accidentally turned on a toaster inside a home in Maryland, sparking a fire that killed three other pets in the home, according to officials.
The incident occurred at a single-family dwelling on 4319 Foxglove Court in Belcamp.
Fire crews responded to the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
The Abingdon Fire Company reported that firefighters were able to control the blaze in about 20 minutes.
The owners were not home at the time of the fire.
No people were harmed in the incident, according to fire officials.
Neighbors jumped into action and rescued two dogs from the burning home.
However, a third dog and two cats died in the fire.
The familyβs bearded dragon was later found alive.
It survived after spending 24 hours in critical care.
Fire officials said the fire started in the kitchen before spreading to other parts of the home.
An investigation determined that one of the familyβs dogs jumped onto the kitchen counter.
