A šš½šøšøšš¾šš video showing the inside of a West Virginia home has led to the arrest of a young couple, with authorities describing the conditions as “repulsive” and unfit for both a child and three dogs.
Dakota McIe, 23, and Ciarra Lacey, 22, now face charges of child neglect and animal šŖš«š¾š¼š® after a concerned witness handed over footage of the residence on August 5, according to court documents reviewed by local news outlet WDTV.
The video reportedly revealed a home filled with animal feces, human vomit, and piles of trash, even in the area where the child slept. A strong odor left the witness feeling sick, and swarms of flies were seen hovering over rotting food in the kitchen.
Authorities noted that the home had no air conditioning and a portion of the bathroom was unusable. Three dogs were found confined to cages covered in urine, with no visible food or water, according to Upshur County Sheriffās deputies.
Animal control was called to remove the dogs, and Child Protective Services stepped in to place the child, whose age and gender have not been disclosed, into the custody of a grandparent.
Lacey remains in custody on a $30,000 cash-only bond, while McIe was released on August 11 after posting a $5,000 bond. What led to such a heartbreaking situation in the first place?
