Man City plays Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup

While Man Utd meets a light opponent, Man City will have to be a guest of Tottenham in the fourth round of the FA Cup, according to the draw results on January 8.

Man City crushed Huddersfield 5-0 in round three. Last season, Pep Guardiola and his team defeated Man Utd 2-1 in the final. This is one of three titles that created Man City’s historic treble last season, besides the Premier League and Champions League.

Tottenham beat Burnley 1-0 to advance thanks to defender Pedro Porro’s only goal. In the first leg of this season’s Premier League, Man City and Tottenham played a satisfying 3-3 draw at Etihad Stadium on December 3. Man City was fined for letting a player react to the referee in this match.

The last time Man City met Tottenham in FA Cup took place 20 years ago, in February 2004. At that time, the representative of Manchester won 4-3.

Another notable match between two Premier League teams is Chelsea hosting Aston Villa. Chelsea won 4-0 against First Division team Preston North End in round three. But Mauricio Pochettino and his team are experiencing an erratic season and are only ranked 10th in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa is flying high in second place. In the third round, the team under coach Unai Emery defeated Middlesbrough 1-0. Earlier this season, Villa won 1-0 at Chelsea thanks to striker Ollie Watkins’ only goal.

Some third round matches have not yet had results, but the organizers decided to draw lots first. The draw was conducted before Man Utd ‘s 2-0 win over Wigan. In round four, “Red Devils” will face the winner of the match between Newport County and Eastleigh. Newport currently plays in League Two – the fourth division in the English football pyramid, while Eastleigh belongs to the National League – equivalent to the Fifth Division.

Liverpool will face the winner of the match between lower-ranked opponents – Norwich vs Bristol Rovers. Newcastle is away at Fulham Stadium while Brighton also faces another Premier League team – Sheffield United.
