In a heart-wrenching tragedy that has left a community in shock, a father in Montana is mourning the loss of his two children, along with several family members, after a devastating shooting incident unfolded at their home. Adam Ghekiere’s life was forever changed when he learned that emergency responders were racing to the scene where his loved ones were in grave danger.
Ghekiere, who was working as a rescue firefighter at an airshow when the news broke, desperately tried to reach his daughter Charlotte, 12, and son Landon, 15, as well as his wife Megan and her two children, Chloe, 7, and Owen, 13. Tragically, he also lost his 92-year-old great-grandmother, who was wheelchair-bound, among others in the horrific event.
“I couldn’t get through to them,” Ghekiere recounted in an emotional interview. “I checked their locations, but there was no response.” His anxiety escalated when he arrived at the home only to be met with police barricades due to the ongoing situation.
“I feared the worst right then,” he admitted.
Reports indicate that the shooter, who reportedly took his own life after the attack, had familial ties to Ghekiere and had been harboring resentment towards his parents. “I don’t think the shooter expected my kids to be there,” he shared, reflecting on the unimaginable loss.
As the investigation continues, authorities have yet to disclose a motive for the killings or the identity of the suspect. The Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that detectives are still on-site, working to recover the victims’ bodies.
Emergency services responded to the scene shortly after 6:10 p. m. , following reports of gunfire and an unconscious child.

Landon was remembered as a protective older brother, while Charlotte was celebrated for her humor and charm.
