People looking to stock, or maybe restock, their bookshelves have a great opportunity this Saturday as the Friends of the Salina Public Library are hosting a bargain book sale, with everything costing only 50 cents.
While the Friends host a few book sales throughout the year at the Salina Public Library, this 50-cent sale, happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on March 16, is the first of its kind for the community, and the response is nothing but positive.
“I’m anticipating quite a crowd,” said Katie Zey, head of marketing for the library. “On Facebook we have around 1,300 people who have responded to the event. That’s the most people we’ve ever had respond to any Facebook event ever.”
Not just books on sale for 50 cents at the Salina Public Library
This bargain sale is about more than just selling pulp fiction or even books.
Collections of all kinds of media can be added to as hardbacks, paperbacks, audiobooks, CDs and even movies will all be sold at the rock-bottom price of 50 cents.
“There is (also) no limit as to how much people can buy,” Zey said.
People who are interested in this first-of-its-kind sale will need to be there on Saturday. Zey said the excitement behind this event is not only because of the bargain price, but also because it’s unlike previous book sales that take place over the span of a whole weekend.
“It is a one-day sale,” Zey said.
The Friends of Salina Public Library 50-cent book sale is happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 16, in the lower level of the library, 301 W. Elm St. in downtown Salina.
