The path from the bedroom to MrBeast’s company is so short that you only need to set foot outside the door to get there.
MrBeast, a YouTuber with 246 million subscribers, said he lives right in the building where he works and next to his office to make commuting easier. With his popularity, Jimmy Donaldson (MrBeast’s real name) can certainly afford a lavish apartment in Los Angeles. But he still chose to rent a studio without a bedroom, just a wall away from his office.
This was revealed by MrBeast in the podcast episode “Howie Mandel Does Stuff”. At the end of the episode, Donaldson gave the host a tour around his office, which is also his primary residence.
“When my girlfriend comes over, we go to another house. But living here is more convenient because I don’t have to drive much,” Donaldson said.
Content and other business projects bring him about $700 million a year. But you wouldn’t think he’s that rich just by looking at where he lives.
The YouTuber’s bed is located right next to the living room and computer and it appears that the remaining rooms in the apartment only have bathrooms and contain wardrobes. MrBeast once welcomed famous people such as football quarterback Tom Brady and singer Justin Timberlake at his office, which is also his home.
To decorate the room, MrBeast hung his Guinness World Record certificate and many pictures and sayings of the late Apple founder Steve Jobs on the wall. “If you want to make people happy, don’t become a leader. Sell ice cream,” reads a quote accompanying a photo of Steve Jobs. Donaldson said this is one of his favorite sayings.
According to Business Insider, MrBeast is not the first rich person to sleep at work. In 2022, billionaire Elon Musk said he would sleep at the headquarters of social networking company X (formerly Twitter) in San Francisco during the first weeks of the takeover. Previously, Musk said he sometimes slept on the Tesla factory floor to show solidarity with employees.
The 25-year-old YouTuber and billionaire Elon Musk have been friends since 2019. However, their relationship has become strained recently when Donaldson became suspicious of Musk’s efforts to attract investors. Great innovation comes to X, while also criticizing some of the billionaire’s decisions.
