MrBeast, whose real name is James Stephen “Jimmy” Donaldson, is the most subscribed individual YouTuber in the world. His fast-paced and extremely well-made videos draw tens of millions of views each across several platforms. Accordingly, since rumors about a casino app that he has purportedly released began circulating, it has garnered significant attention, with many wondering whether it is real or an AI deepfake scam.
Here is what we have discovered about the MrBeast casino app and whether it’s a scam made with AI deepfake technology.
Is the MrBeast casino app real or a scam?
The MrBeast casino app is a scam. The popular YouTuber did not release or endorse such an app.
According to a report by Snopes, Meta started displaying advertisements for a casino app called The Beast Plinko on Instagram in May 2024. The ads claim that MrBeast is behind the app, even though that is not the case. Moreover, the app is unavailable on Apple App Store or Google Play Store, proving that it’s not real.
MrBeast AI deepfake ads explained
A considerable portion of MrBeast’s audience is reportedly made up of underage viewers. The social media celebrity is also known for his generous giveaways. This has made him a target of advertisers who use AI deepfake and voice-cloning technology to deceive unassuming young consumers and convince them to download their apps.
The advertisers behind The Beast Plinko reportedly used AI deepfakes of other celebrities to promote the app. They even made it seem that newscasters such as CNN’s Laura Coates and Fox News’ Sean Hannity have reported on The Beast Plinko.
However, no such app exists.
