‘EXTRA PADDING’ : Patrick Mahomes dubbed a ‘chubby fast dude’ by NFL rival after Chiefs superstar quarterback forced to defend ‘dad bod’

Mahomes and the Chiefs are eyeing history in the 2024 season

NFL star Marlon Humphrey believes appearances can be deceiving – especially when it comes to Patrick Mahomes.

The Baltimore Ravens cornerback was left frustrated as Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs ran out 27-20 winners in last week’s NFL opener.

Humprey and the Ravens had no answer to two-time MVP Mahomes, who threw for 291 yards and a touchdown in the AFC Championship Game rematch.

The former first-round pick opened up on the loss during a recent episode of his podcast Punch Line.

And he revealed just how difficult it is to play against Mahomes – despite him sporting a “dad bod.”

“What makes [Mahomes] very good is he does some pretty wild stuff,” he explained.

“Which sometimes catches him out but a lot of times he doesn’t.

“He gets away with a lot just because he’s always willing to test it, willing to try it.”

“He’s a chubby fast dude. I’m always amazed when he’s outrunning people or juking poeple in the backfield, getting out of a sack and just launching the ball.”

In recent years, Mahomes’ unathletic physique has been a talking point for NFL fans.

The 28-year-old defended his body shape in a recent interview with TIME magazine, insisting “some padding” is important for a QB.

“I definitely have the dad bod a little bit,” Mahomes told TIME, via the Daily Mail.

“I’ll also say I have a great body for a quarterback. You’ve got to have some padding in there to take the hits that we take.”

Mahomes was targeted by internet trolls after being photographed arriving for training camp in the offseason.

“It kinda surprised me,” Mahomes told The Pat McAfee Show in May, responding to the criticism of his physique.

“I thought we got the whole dad bod thing out of the way last offseason, last season actually in the playoffs.

“But I guess people still haven’t realized that I don’t have abs.

“So, I’ll continue to work on that and hopefully, one of these days we can figure out how to get a looser t-shirt.”

Mahomes is hoping to lead the Chiefs to a historic feat this season.

The three-time Super Bowl champion is back at Arrowhead on Sunday.

Brandi and Brittany witnessed Patrick become a sensation while they were still in high school together.

Mahomes saw 4,619 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 948 running yards, and 15 rushing touchdowns in his last season.

He was a two-sport athlete who excelled in baseball as well. In his final year in that sport as well, he pitched a no-hitter with sixteen strikeouts.

After playing football for Texas Tech, Mahomes is now the top quarterback in the NFL and a three-time Super Bowl champion.

Since the old picture, Brittany and Patrick’s relationship has also advanced significantly.

In 2020, Patrick proposed to Brittany, and in 2022, they tied the knot. Together, they are parents to two kids and are expecting a third.

Patrick Mahomes acknowledges that his collegiate football career at Texas Tech might have been different if NIL had been in effect.

Announcing their third pregnancy, they said, “Round three, here we come,” as the caption for an Instagram photo.

However, Mahomes said that they won’t be having any more 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren after No. 3, so the third 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 will be the last one.

“I’m done, I’ll say that,” Mahomes declared.

“I said three (𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥ren) and I’m done.”

Mahomes, who is 28 years old, revealed that he is excited to share with his third 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥 the experience of having them in the locker room, just like he did with his MLB dad.

Mahomes remarked, “I got to grow up in the locker room.”

“I believe I’ve discussed it previously, and it had a significant influence on my life.

“And so, I wanted to have kids young and we’re having a third kid now to join our family.”

In preparation for his eighth season with the Kansas City Chiefs, Mahomes is hoping to win the Super Bowl for the third time in a row.

To kick off the season, the Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5.
