In the 55th minute of the match between Argentinos vs Fluminense at the 2023 Copa Libertadores, Marcelo had a ball that accidentally broke his opponent Luciano Sánchez’s leg. Luciano Sánchez was immediately given first aid by the doctors.
Marcelo burst into tears right on the field because he was worried about the opponent. Marcelo then received a red card from the referee and Luciano Sánchez had to leave the field on a stretcher.
Doctors at Sanatorio Finochietto hospital announced that Sanchez could only return after 8-12 months of treatment. Recovery time may be longer, depending on the condition of the 29-year-old player.
