® Messi’s children raided beaches soaked in rain before the Leagues Cup match between Miami and Orlando David Beckham nearly got wet!

Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham was seen larking around with Lionel Messi’s sons during a rain delay in a Leagues Cup clash against Orlando City. The match was delayed by an hour-and-a-half due to thunder and lightning in the area, with most spectators taking shelter in the stadium. However, Messi’s sons, Matteo and Thiago, headed back out into the stands in preparation to watch their dad play once again. After the rain eased up, the children entertained themselves by throwing soaked items onto the field.

Beckham watched on laughing at their antics before going in for a high-five with one of the little troublemakers. However, he had to jokingly leap back in shock as they waved a rain-soaked flag in his face, spraying the former Manchester United star in the face, while his daughter Harper turned away to dodge the blast. Nevertheless, Beckham continued to beam at the mischief and was seen enjoying the company of Messi’s sons.

Messi’s wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, was later spotted celebrating her husband’s opening goal after just seven minutes of play. Beckham and Messi appear to have a close relationship, with the former England soccer star recently claiming that bringing Messi to Inter Miami was one of the best moments of his life.

Beckham has been in attendance at DRV PNK Stadium for Messi’s first three games for Inter Miami. He watched the first two games with his wife Victoria and was joined by their daughter and youngest child, Harper, on Wednesday night. Overall, the presence of both Beckham and Messi’s family members in the stadium adds a touch of excitement and entertainment to the match, even during a rain delay.

‘I never thought I would have the same feeling as an owner as I had when I was a player,’ Beckham told The Athletic.

‘When I got the phone call (to confirm Messi was joining), I had the feeling I had when I walked out at Old Trafford or Wembley. I was like, “We’ve just beaten all competition to sign the greatest player to ever play our game”.

‘This will be up there with the biggest moves in American sporting history.’

When asked if it was one of the best moments of his life, Beckham responded: ‘Without a doubt’.
