On June 3, Manchester City ( Man City ) defeated rivals Manchester United (Man Utd) 2-1 in the FA Cup final at Wembley. In particular, captain Ilkay Gundogan scored a big goal when he scored both goals for Man City after two assists from vice-captain Kevin De Bruyne.

Man City fans had moments of ecstasy when their team scored a double championship, after winning the Premier League. Now, they are confident towards a historic treble with the prestigious Champions League final against Inter Milan next week.

Man City’s gods are missing a medal

But suddenly, in the moment of coronation in the FA Cup, the two gods of Man City, Ilkay Gundogan and Kevin De Bruyne, were not awarded medals. Meanwhile, players who are rarely used this season such as Kalvin Phillips (who did not play in the FA Cup this season) and two young players Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis were awarded enough.

The Sun ( UK) revealed that the cause of this incident was because the organizers lacked medals for the players. The audience on the field saw Prince William explain to Kevin De Bruyne that they had no more medals to hand out.

But luckily for the Belgian midfielder , he was later passed a medal by goalkeeper Ederson. Meanwhile, captain Ilkay Gundogan, promised to make up for it the next day, had to pose for a coronation photo without a medal on his collar.

Social networks then spread information about this rare incident at a very fast speed. A Man City fan shared: “Poor Gundogan! Captain, who scored twice but did not receive a medal because the organizers had run out.” Another wrote: “Gundogan was the man of the match but no medal”.
