Anybody that has followed LeBron James’ illustrious basketball career is well-aware that whenever he is not on the court, he is putting in just as much work into his business priorities. Ever since James realized just how much of an impact he was making in the sports world with his performances and achievements, he made it clear that he wanted to establish other lines of work and income for himself that would stretch far past his playing days and bring in generational wealth for his family.
The endorsement deals came first, as they do with most star athletes, and James has become a face for Nike, Beats and so many other top brands. However, once The King moved to Los Angeles full-time in 2018, so many more opportunities opened up for him and he did not hesitate partnering up with close friend Maverick Carter to start his Springhill film production company.
So many films and television series have been put together by Springhill now that we are in 2023 such as Hustle, The Shop and Shooting Stars just to name a few. James and his media company also helped produce ‘The Redeem Team’ documentary that aired on Netflix last year and told the story of Team USA’s 2008 squad.
The director of ‘The Redeem Team’, Jon Weinbach, praised James in a recent interview with The Athletic for being able to put together such a prominent company all while being one of the biggest basketball players in the world.
“He’s a unicorn in terms of being able to build an entertainment portfolio as an athlete. As big as Steven Spielberg — or I would like to think Leonardo DiCaprio — they’re huge in their space, right, in entertainment?”
Expect many more big-time productions to come from James and Springhill in the near future.
