Angelina Jolie strikes major three-year deal to produce her own films and documentaries… starting with war movie Without Blood

Angelina Jolie is mapping out the next chapter of her career in entertainment.

The movie star and UN Ambassador has struck a major new deal for the next three years, to star in and produce multiple films, TV shows and documentaries.

Deadline reported Friday that Jolie, 46, has gone into partnership with the British production company Fremantle, her first project being an adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s international bestseller Without Blood.

In a statement, the Maleficent star said the ‘freedom to tell important stories and bring them to a global audience’ is at the heart of the deal.

She added: ‘I am excited to be working with such a passionate and forward-looking team that has an international perspective.’

Jolie will produce and direct Without Blood herself in Italy.

Based on the 2008 novel, the story is described as an ‘unforgettable fable about the brutality of war.’

It is not yet clear when production will begin.

According to the report, the projects handed to Jolie in the deal will be decided on a ‘case-by-case basis’ as she ‘seeks to tell stories that are sophisticated, powerful and internationally focused, including local language projects.’

Fremantle’s Global CEO Jennifer Mullin said: ‘Fremantle and Angelina share the passion and ambition of telling compelling stories from everywhere in the world, for everyone in the world.’

‘We embrace and support the creative independence of our partners and look forward to working with Angelina to bring powerful and unique stories to a global audience.’

Jolie’s last major movie, Marvel’s Eternals, received a mixed reaction from critics and fans.

It went on to gross over $400million at the global box office, which was still considered an underwhelming effort for a Marvel Studios film.
