๐Ÿ˜ณ Ex-Met Officer Who Faked a Sex Attack Is Back Behind Bars... Here's What Happened

A former Met Police officer who lied about being sexually assaulted to explain why she was running late has now been ordered back behind bars after her sentence was doubled.

Lauren Evans, 35, claimed a male colleague pulled her over and performed an intimate body search on the A20 in southeast London back in March 2023. According to court documents, the fellow officer was arrested in front of his wife and children, spent a night in custody, and was suspended from duty โ€” all because of her fabricated story.

But CCTV and automatic number plate recognition footage later proved the stop never happened. Evans, who worked at Bromley Police Station, had allegedly texted senior officers saying she’d been pulled over, then repeated the claim after arriving at work on time. She reportedly gave a detailed and emotional statement about being searched by a man in an unmarked car claiming to be from Kent Police.

The case generated over 1,500 hours of investigative work involving more than 30 detectives. In a hearing at Southwark Crown Court, the court heard her lie had “snowballed out of control.”

Evans was convicted of perverting the course of justice and originally sentenced to one year in prison on March 2. But the case was referred to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence Scheme, and her term was increased to two years. Since she had already been released, she was rearrested and sent back to prison.

What could drive someone to spin a story that destroys so many lives โ€” including their own?
