Angelina Jolie may come from an acting family, but she doesn’t want her children to follow in her footsteps.
The 40-year-old admitted during an appearance on the Today show that she and husband Brad Pitt would only be happy for their six kids to take on Hollywood if they had done something else first.
‘I hope not!’ Angelina said with a laugh when asked if her children – who have small roles in her latest animated movie Kung Fu Panda 3 – had caught the acting bug.
‘We’ve always said if they’re going to be actors I hope they do something [else first] and then be actors,’ she added.
The A-list couple have six children together: Maddox, 14, Pax, 12, Zahara, 10, Shiloh, nine, and twins Knox and Vivienne, both seven.
Angelina also said that it ‘was so much fun’ to have the brood work with her on the movie.
‘I think what was so sweet about it was that they took it very seriously,’ she said. They came in and said, “I don’t know if I could do this. I’m not sure if I can do this.”

‘And to talk them through it – it was simple little things – but they really took it seriously as a job and getting it right and not doing a bad job.’
Angelina was being interviewed alongside co-star Jack Black, whose nine-year-old son also has a role in the film.
Meanwhile, the Oscar winner had earlier admitted that she thinks her children may have already caught most of her films – even those they are too young to see.
The actor, 46, said: ‘I don’t like to say, “Hey, you have to see School of Rock.”‘
He went on to add he didn’t want his son’s to see any of the R rated films he had made, such as The Pick of Destiny.
Angelina responded: ‘Whereas my oldest (Maddox) has probably already seen it. My oldest especially loves Jack’s music.’
She has a number of R rated movies in her body of work, including Gia, where she plays the famous model who passed away from AIDS. The movie has numerous nude scenes featuring the actress.
In Original Sin, she is a Russian bride who isn’t all she appears to be, and gets up close and personal with Antonio Banderas.
She has also starred as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, which was rated PG-13 – so suitable for some of her children.
In the film Mr and Mrs Smith, which is where she first met Brad, 52, the pair are involved in numerous shoot outs – but the film carries a PG-13 rating.
In the R- rated Girl, Interrupted Angelina plays Lisa Rowe, a patient in a mental health institution, for which she was awarded a Best Supporting Actress Oscar, and a Golden Globe.
Angelina also revealed in the interview she wished she could sing like her co-star and said she ‘would love’ to sing with him.
