Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt started in the industry almost simultaneously, with Cruise taking the head start.
Although they entered the industry in their 20s, they certainly made their way through the ranks and rose to the top becoming one of the most successful actors of this generation. Currently, Cruise is the world’s highest-paid actor and Pitt is not so far behind!
Although it is quite a fact that, they both played crucial roles in shaping the industry for the better, attracting countless people and sponsors to the entertainment industry with their movies, there is a bit of tension between them. During their early days in the industry, as both of them strived for fame and recognition, they starred in a movie, and for some reason, Brad Pitt was irritated with Tom Cruise’s involvement in the movie.

Brad Pitt Hated Tom Cruise For Replacing Daniel Day-Lewis
Brad Pitt has been widely known in the industry for his versatility, picking up skills and blending with any actor or script no matter how hard it was. He was highly appreciated for his ability within the industry, unlike many other actors who faced difficulties coping with the vision of the director, Brad Pitt was quick to catch on and it made matters easy for the whole team and the results he produced were also top class. But for some reason in the horror-romance film, Interview with the Vampire, Pitt was against Tom Cruise playing an important part in the movie and was also irritated with his cast.

“Oh, they hated him. Anne Rice found it perplexing. As did Brad Pitt, actually. Everybody wanted Daniel – though I imagine he didn’t want to sleep in a coffin for preparation. I’ve always thought he’s a great actor, but his life is also not unlike the life of a vampire, you know what I mean?
Famous people don’t want to go out into an unmediated space. They have to control who they meet and how they meet them. They have to control their image. It’s almost like they live in a spectral kind of world. Just as an analogy, that made sense to me. So we agreed to do the film together, and then everybody got really angry.”
During an interview, Neil Jordan, the director of Interview with the Vampire shared that neither the original novelist Anne Rice nor the lead actor Brad Pitt entertained the fact of Tom Cruise’s involvement in the movie. Especially since Cruise replaced the star actor in the industry, Daniel Day-Lewis. Jordan went on to add that Rice conveyed her strong feelings against the cast of Cruise and deemed Jordan’s decision perplexing. Moreover, Brad Pitt was under the impression that he will be starring alongside the Oscar awardee, instead, he got the man who hangs from a plane.
