With the arrival of the new year, Zendaya has unveiled on her Instagram account the first poster of Challengers, the much-anticipated film directed by Luca Guadagnino! Originally slated for 2023, Challengers was pushed back to 2024 due to the SAG-AFTRA union strike. To kick off the new year, Zendaya revealed the inaugural poster of the movie helmed by Luca Guadagnino on January 1st via Instagram.
Initially set to open the last International Film Art Exhibition in Venice, Challengers faced a delay to April 2024 due to the strike involving Hollywood’s actors and writers’ unions at the request of the director himself. Directed by Luca Guadagnino and starring Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist, the film follows the story of Tashi Duncan, a former tennis champion turned coach to her husband Art (Faist).
Tashi’s goal is to revive Art’s tennis career, aiming to transform him into a top player once more, especially in time for the second-tier tournament he’s set to participate in. Among the challengers is Patrick (O’Connor), Tashi’s ex-boyfriend and Art’s best friend. As their shared past, complete with a love triangle, resurfaces, Tashi begins to question the cost of always striving for greatness.
While eagerly awaiting its cinema release, on January 1st, 2024, Zendaya shared the first Challengers poster with her Instagram followers. The actress stands front and center in the image, looking directly into the camera, with reflections of Art (Mike Faist) and Patrick (Josh O’Connor) visible in the lenses of her sunglasses as they battle it out on the tennis court. Accompanying the promotional poster, Zendaya extended her personal wishes to fans for the newly started year, also reminding them of Challengers’ scheduled release on April 26, 2024.
