Impressive numbers appear in Formula 1 for Lewis Hamilton after he signed a new contract with Mercedes.

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton has signed a new contract with Mercedes after speculation around his future and the 38-year-old has already enjoyed a highly successful career in the sport.

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton will be staying with Mercedes after signing a new contract. The 38-year-old has agreed a deal that will keep him with Mercedes until 2025.

There had been months of speculation linking Hamilton with a move away from Mercedes. It was even mentioned in certain reports that a sensational switch to Ferreri could be on the cards following the conclusion of the 2023 season.

Now, though, Hamilton has committed his future to Mercedes, in a new deal that will run until the end of the 2025 F1 season. By the time the new contract comes to an end, Hamilton would have been with Mercedes for 13 seasons after first joining back in 2013.

“We dream every day of being the best and we have dedicated the past decade together to achieving that goal,” said Hamilton, in the statement released on the Mercedes team website.

“Being at the top does not happen overnight or over a short period of time, it takes commitment, hard work and dedication and it’s been an honor to earn our way into the history books with this incredible team.

“We have never been hungrier to win. We have learned from every success but also every setback. We continue to chase our dreams, we continue to fight no matter the challenge and we will win again.

“I’m grateful to the team who have supported me both on and off the track. Our story isn’t finished, we are determined to achieve more together and we won’t stop until we do.”

With Hamilton’s future with Mercedes now secured, it’s worth looking at how the seven-time world champion has fared throughout his career. Even with the rise of Max Verstappen in recent years, Hamilton has still managed to make sure he is immortalized in F1 history.

Lewis Hamilton Driver’s Championship wins

As mentioned, Hamilton has won seven Drivers’ Championship titles across his career, with his last triumph coming back in 2020 and his first more than a decade ago in 2008.

No other driver in the history of F1 has more, with only Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher level with Hamilton in title wins.

Lewis Hamilton’s race wins and podium finishes

A product of so many world titles, is that Hamilton has also stacked up a great deal of race wins. Once again, no driver in the history of the sport has won more races than Hamilton, who has 103 victories and is ahead of the 91 won by Schumacher.

When it comes to podium finishes, too, Hamilton is well clear at the top of the overall figures. He has 195 podium finishes across his career, while Schumacher is once again second with 155 and his another former Hamilton rival, Sebastian Vettel has 122 and is in third.

Hamilton has not won a race since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and has not won the Drivers Championship in the last two seasons. That honor has gone to Verstappen, who is the runaway leader in this year’s Drivers Championship, too, with Hamilton in fourth place.

Lewis Hamilton career earnings

Even though Hamilton may not be the favorite to win the Drivers Championship this year, he has still managed to earn a great deal of money throughout his career.

According to Spotrac, Hamilton has earned a total of $512.1 million through his F1 earnings from his time with McLaren and Mercedes.

Hamilton is said to have earned a total of $40 million for his performance in the 2022 season. This year, though, his earnings will reportedly be slightly less at $35 million.
