There were no surprises during the qualifying session of the Saudi Arabian GP when Max Verstappen played overwhelmingly. The defending champion set the fastest time in all three qualifying sessions. He won the first starting position with a lap time of 1 minute 27 seconds 472.
The driver who took the first starting position in last year’s race, Sergio Perez, had the 3rd best performance, 3/10th of a second slower than Verstappen.
Between the two Red Bull drivers was Charles Leclerc when the Monaco driver took the starting position at the second minute. Carlos Sainz could not compete due to appendicitis. Replacing the Spanish racer is Oliver Bearmand. The young 18-year-old racer did not have much time to get used to the SF-24 and had the 11th best performance in the qualifying session.
Another highlight from yesterday’s qualifying session was Fernando Alonso. The 42-year-old racer continued to show high performance and took the 4th starting position.
