In a live social media stream Monday, Belcalis Marlenis Cephus, known professionally as Cardi B, claimed she was stopped by officers with the Los Angeles Police Department over the weekend.
According to the rapper, she was pulled over because “They thought I was trafficking, yeah, they thought I was trafficking fentanyl, and they thought I had a gun in my car.”
In the video, she said the stop lasted for approximately three hours, and officers had her “Getting butt naked.”
Cephus said the officers told her they had received a tip that resulted in the search, and she believes it is the work of her ‘ops’ attempting to ruin her life.
KNX News contacted the LAPD, and a representative said the department has no record of contact with Cardi B.
Ashley Kalmanowitz SVP of Media Relations & Strategy with Cardi B’s label, Atlantic Records, had this to say about the social media video:
This IG live was taken out of context, and there is no truth to this story. Apologies for any confusion.
