Henry Cavill Was Reportedly Paid More Money Than Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Salary For His Superman Cameos in Black Adam and The Flash

Henry Cavill Was Reportedly Paid More Money Than Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman Salary For His Superman Cameos in Black Adam and The Flash

Henry Cavill may not be reprising his role as the Man of Steel anytime soon, but fans don’t need to burst into tears for him. The Hollywood Reporter discovered that the actor was paid a whopping $250,000 ‘each’ for his brief appearances in Black Adam and The Flash.

Yes, that’s what it is—a quarter of a million dollars for just a few minutes of screen time. Not bad for a day’s work, right? While some may feel sorry for Cavill for not getting the chance to star in James Gunn’s 2025 Superman release, it’s abundantly clear that the actor isn’t hurting for cash. Also, compared to Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, the Immortals actor received a higher salary for his brief cameos in other DC flicks.

Cavill was a hot commodity at Warner Bros. Pictures before Gunn and Safran were named co-CEOs of DC Studios. Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, the studio’s co-chiefs, were eager to continue the Man of Steel franchise, with Cavill leading the way.

However, when Gunn and Peter Safran intervened, the Argylle star was forced to make cameo appearances in other DC flicks before leaving altogether.

Henry Cavill’s Lucrative Superman Cameo Deals in Black Adam & The Flash
Henry Cavill declared in October 2022 that he was returning to the role of Superman after making an appearance in a Black Adam post-credits scene. He assured fans that their “patience” would be rewarded (via Instagram).

But only a month and a half later, the actor, 40, announced in an Instagram post that, after meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, he would not be returning as Superman:

“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life. The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that..”

Thus, his nearly ten-year run as the beloved comic book character came to an end disappointingly, especially since fans were beginning to get really excited about another Superman movie. Cavill performed an amazing job as Clark Kent/Superman in the DC Extended Universe (2013–2023).

But do not worry about the actor—it has now been revealed that he was paid an astounding $250,000 each for his cameos in two more DC movies: Black Adam & The Flash (per The Hollywood Reporter). Another THR report suggested that this whopping amount for his two brief cameos as Superman was even greater than Gal Gadot’s $300,000 salary for her lead role in Wonder Woman.

Well, Cavill worked on these movies prior to James Gunn and Peter Safran assuming joint CEO duties at DC Studios. The report also claimed that the actor was in high demand prior to Gunn and Safran’s involvement, as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chiefs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy were keen to make a Man of Steel sequel starring him.

Additionally, Cavill filmed a cameo for The Flash, which was released in 2023. But in light of the major adjustments at DC Studios, it has been revealed that Cavill’s cameo was entirely cut (per THR).

A New Superman Flick Without Henry Cavill Is In The Works

Henry Cavill is not in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s original plans for the DCU, but Superman is—Gunn tweeted that a new Superman film is in the works. Dedicated to “an earlier part of Superman’s life”, this project is one of the first being developed under the new leadership. The script will apparently be penned by Gunn.

Although Cavill’s anticlimactic tenure as Man of Steel has come to an end, Gunn has made hints that the actor might rejoin the DCU in the future:

Cavill played Clark Kent/Kal-El/Superman for the first time in Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel (2013). He later reprised the role in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017). The Witcher star reprised his role as the Man of Steel during Black Adam’s mid-credits scene, in which he acted opposite Dwayne Johnson’s titular anti-hero.
