MrBeast wants to trade blows with Indian CEO amid YouTube subs battle

As the gap between two of YouTube’s most subscribed channels is closing, MrBeast has proposed an unusual meetup with Bhushan Kumar, the T-Series MD. T-Series, an Indian music label and entertainment giant, currently boasts of 265 million subscribers on the Google-owned platform. MrBeast is a close second with 258 million subs. Now, the American YouTuber wants to trade punches with the Indian business mogul.

James Donaldson, known as MrBeast, is an Internet sensation who holds the record for most YouTube subscribers for an individual. The 26-year-old has invited Bhushan to a boxing match. The statement was made on X, where MrBeast posted: I challenge the CEO of T-Series to a boxing match.

While neither T-Series nor Kumar, who heads the company, have responded to the proposal, this isn’t the first time the Indian company has had a beef with a YouTuber. A few years ago, popular Internet personality and YouTuber PewDiePie got into a war of words with T-Series. The rant was fuelled as T-Series overtook the Swedish YouTuber to become the most subscribed channel on the platform.

Meanwhile, calling out competitors for a physical fight, though unusual, isn’t novel anymore. Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg teased a physical combat for months in 2023. The battle of the two billionaires began after Musk acquired X, erstwhile Twitter, and reports emerged that Zuckerberg was working on the microblogging site’s competitor.

The noise regarding the fight gained momentum after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, launched Threads, which functions akin to X. Though the UHNWIs teased and threatened to break each other’s bones in an MMA-styled bout — with both Zuckerberg and Musk hiring top talents from the UFC to train them — the bout is yet to take place.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if either Bhushan Kumar or T-Series add spice to the banter by posting a reply.
