John Terry has made almost £5 million after selling off plots for two mansions he had planned to build, MailOnline can reveal.
The former England footballer, 43, purchased the £4.5 million property several years ago and knocked it down in preparation to build one six-bedroom and one five-bedroom home after receiving planning permission.
The Oxshott plot is part of the Crown Estate, one of the country’s most exclusive estates. Terry has been involved in the development of several luxury homes.
Both properties will include a kitchen diner, a family room, a drawing room, a dining room, dressing rooms and a lounge. The six-bed property will also include a gym.
Land Registry Documents obtained by MailOnline show one plot was sold for £2.75 million and another for £2.15 million.
The land was under the ownership of Blueco Estates, a development company partly run by Mr Terry.
Photos of the site in Oxshott show one of the homes is now completed with the new buyers appearing to have moved in whilst the other remains a blank canvas.
Both of the plots had planning permission for the new homes attached and one of the new buyers has built the property to specification under the previous plans.
A planning application has been submitted by the new owners of the second plot who want to amend the roof shape of a triple garage and change all the dormers of the Georgian grandeur property.
Planning documents state: ‘The proposals provide for a form of development that is in keeping with the established character and appearance of the surrounding area in terms of size, scale, layout, height and design.
‘The new dwelling will be a sustainable development with energy efficiency measures incorporated, such as green energy solutions.’
They previously lodged plans for external alternations including increasing the size and height of pillars and columns over front door and new chimney stacks.
According to a development company which Blueco hired for the project, one of the new homes is described as a ‘8500 sq. ft. new build’ and the other an ‘11500 sq. ft. new build.’
Terry has a flair for property development and has been involved in three others in the nearby Crown Estate in Oxshott, one of Britain’s most exclusive areas to live.
Firstly, in 2002, he purchased a six-bed family pad before selling it for £5million in 2013.
The retired footballer then purchased a neighbouring nine-bedroom mansion for £1.8m in 2007 and spent a further £4million renovating it, even building a fishing lake in the back garden.
He had planned to move into the brand new white mansion but then received an out of the blue offer from the Omani royal family.
Terry made a £10million profit by selling the luxury home to General Sultan bin Mohammed al-Naamani, a senior minister for the Arab state – who reportedly purchased it for his boss Sultan Qaboos bin Said in January 2014.
He then acquired golfer Colin Montgomerie’s six-bedroom house for £6.5 million in 2014 which boasts a two-bed staff annexe, four reception rooms and six-bathrooms.
Terry splashed out funds on turning Montie’s putting green into a swimming pool and outdoor kitchen.
However, the family home was burgled by four Arsenal fans back in February 2017 after the footballer shared an Instagram picture from a family skiing holiday.
Darren Eastaugh, 30, Joshua Sumer, 27, Roy Head, 28, and Oliver Hart, 25, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit burglary.
The conspiracy involved seven burglaries across Surrey and Sussex, with a total lost from all of them was £600,000. All four were jailed for a total of 27 years and 11 months at Kingston Crown Court in 2017.
The home was later sold after he slashed half a million pounds off the £5.5m asking because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Terry later purchased a sprawling 18th-century seven-bed property in 2019 for £4.1million.
He bought the house – set in eight acres of woodland – in the summer during the off season after retiring from playing.
The stone and flint manor house, which was built in 1752 for the personal chaplain to the Earl of Ellesmere.
As well as a metal spiral staircase, the home had a large ornate fireplace and many other period features.
Reports say the Chelsea Academy coach sold the home for a huge £23million last year, a profit of £20 million, after making several modifications to the home.
The estate agent described the Terrys’ property as an ‘elegant and imposing period country house’.
The property description read: ‘It’s a magnificent 18th century brick and flint country house which has been sensitively extended over the years.
‘The property is accessed via a private drive and is well positioned within its land to take advantage of the views over the gardens.
‘Unusually, for a building of this age and stature, it is not listed property.
‘The original part of the house was built in 1752 and later extensions were added in the 20th century.’
He has been married to wife Toni since 2007 and in 2006 they welcomed twins Summer and Georgie, now 17.
It is understood that he has now purchased a new property worth £8m nearby.
