An 18,000 sq ft estate, where Prince once lived, has hit the market at $30million and the property comes with two homes plus two vacant parcels that total 2.15 acres of land.
Purchased by Utah Jazz player Carlos Boozer in 2004, the late musician rented 1255 Sierra Alta Way in Beverly Hills, California while the basketball star was away for the NBA season.
Prince ended up transforming the mansion into a purple palace, changing the weight room in Boozer’s two-story gym into a disco with DJ booth, and converting bedrooms into a hair salon and massage parlor.
He hosted many parties and concerts at the property near Sunset Strip, and even replaced gold lions on Boozer’s 12-foot gates so guests were greeted by his purple ‘artist former known as’ symbol.
Boozer was said to be furious when he saw his 10 beds, 13-bath pad featuring a rooftop tennis court and swim-up bar grotto with water slide changed. But the pair became friends when Prince wired him $500,000 and promised to remove the furnishings and décor after his $95,000 per month lease ended.
Over the years the house has also been occupied by actress Elizabeth Taylor, film producer Ted Fields and Rockstar Energy founder Russ Weiner.
Alas, Prince’s furnishings are now long-gone from the property, in favor of more neutral tones.
The main house – which can be rented for $80,000 per month – is 15,101 sq ft and comes with a rooftop tennis court that boasts expansive views of Los Angeles. A second-story loft with picture windows also overlooks the city.
Images listed by the Oppenheim Group – the subject of Netflix reality show Selling Sunset – show a ballroom, wine room, solarium, column-lined living room and 4-car garage.
Whoever buys the estate will also be given ownership of 1255 Sierra Alta Way, which is a 3 bed, 3,300 sq. ft. English Tudor with 20 ft. ceilings, a gourmet kitchen, bar and billiard rooms, den, pool, spa, and 2-car garage.
But the lease only provides access to the main house.
The mansion was built in 1953 by Hal Braxton Hayes, who constructed it for topless tanning and to include an artificial beach.
