As the popular host of Selling Houses Australia, Andrew Winter helps homeowners transform their rundown properties.
And now the celebrity real estate agent has put his own five-bedroom Gold Coast home on the market for a price tag just shy of $4 million.
The stunning waterfront property in Sanctuary Cove boasts a pool at its centre, and only just underwent an extensive renovation less than 12 months ago.
The property tycoon spoke with News Corp in November last year, sharing his favourite features of the home.
‘It’s got massive bi-fold doors, high ceilings — you throw the doors open and you’re right on the water — it’s got a pool, you get cross-ventilation, you get enough sun but not too much,’ he explained.
‘For a Pom, it’s embracing the climate that we live in and the outdoor lifestyle. It’s always talked about and that’s why we live here.
‘It really embraces living in southeast Queensland.’
The property, which sits on a 950 sqm block with 23m of river frontage, was quietly listed on Saturday and is being marketed by Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty.
At the time of purchase, Winter described the property as his ‘dream home’ but admitted he always has the option of selling on his mind.
‘It’s always a combination of loving a property and thinking I can make some money off a property — it’s a double-edged thing there,’ he revealed.
Winter has been a long-term fan of living in the exclusive Sanctuary Cove area, with the property being the third house that he and his wife have lived in.
Property records show the couple bought the home for $1.9 million in March 2017 and is now listed for sale for $3.95 million.
‘We don’t stay long anywhere and it’s suited us — we’ve had our family and kids growing up there, it’s about friends around you — feeling safe and secure I guess that’s one of the things we like about it,’ he said in November.
But speaking exclusively to The Courier Mail on Monday, Winter revealed he had ‘itchy feet’ and ‘it was time for a beach change’.
‘So we are heading to join the hip set somewhere between Main Beach and Mermaid Beach,’ he said.
The change comes less than 12 months after he gave the home an extensive modern makeover with the addition of bold, modern features such as a stark black ceilings in the kitchen and a marble-look entry door.
There are five bedrooms, including a master suite with its own riverside deck, ensuite bathroom and walk-in-robe.
Three of the bedrooms also have built-in robes and ensuites.
A fifth bedroom in the pool house comes complete with a kitchenette, walk-in-robe, an ensuite shower room and split-system air conditioning.
Open plan living areas boast 3.8 metre-high ceilings with views across the water and uninhabited natural islands.
‘The remaining spaces all open to the central courtyard, a landscape designed for privacy, easy care and to relax the mind with the 15m shimmering pool the central focus,’ the listing reads.
‘Very few homes can offer such a blend of sweeping river views, with boats cruising by and the privacy and calm of the inner gardens. Imagine every bedroom has direct access to the pool.’
The top-of-the-line kitchen showcases the latest in design and materials with integrated appliances, a Miele oven, porcelain bench tops, Gessi Italian tap ware, and a Zip tap with sparkling water at the press of a button.
Other features of the home include a three-car garage, a study, a 15m in ground pool, riverside entertaining decks, an 8m pontoon with power and super fender and gated entry.
Sanctuary Cove is one of Queensland’s premier resort living areas and is popular for Australian celebrities, international stars and business executives.
Winter hinted the next property purchase would be a ‘beachside knock-down and rebuild’.
‘This house (Sanctuary Cove), if I could pick it up and move it to somewhere by the beach I would,’ he said.
