The buzz around Roman Reigns’ impending return has started to gain more and more steam with SummerSlam inching close. The belief is that The Tribal Chief will return at SummerSlam for the first time since losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.
Will the record-setting Universal Champion take revenge for his Wiseman Paul Heyman being attacked by Solo Sikoa and the new Bloodline? Or will he fall in line and acknowledge Sikoa as the new Tribal Chief? That is the million-dollar question going through every fan. Let’s take a look at three directions WWE can take for Reigns’ return:
3. An unlikely alliance between two long-time rivals
The rivalry between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar is one of the most iconic feuds in modern WWE. The two men have battled over the WWE Championship multiple times. However, the common thread between the two rivals was Paul Heyman. Heyman had served as the manager for Lesnar for a long time before he became Roman Reigns’ ‘advocate’.
After Solo Sikoa attacked Paul Heyman brutally, Lesnar could make his return at SummerSlam to avenge his friend. However, The Bloodline could overpower him, and Roman Reigns could rush to his aid. The two rivals could form an unlikely alliance to avenge their mentor, Paul Heyman, and take down Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline.
2. Jacob Fatu to betray Solo Sikoa
The Enforcer Jacob Fatu has run roughshod over SmackDown since he joined Sikoa’s Bloodline. However, unlike Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa, Fatu has started gaining a following of his own as fans flock towards his undeniable charisma. Could it be that Fatu will be taken out of Sikoa’s shadow sooner rather than later?
Fatu could cost Solo Sikoa his match against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam and backstab the new Tribal Chief. He could then get on the mic and reveal that he never truly acknowledged Sikoa as the Head of the Table. He would then go on to reveal that there is only one man worthy of being called The Tribal Chief, queuing the entry and return of Reigns.
1. Roman Reigns could be the special guest referee for Cody Rhodes vs. Solo Sikoa
A recent report by Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE is planning to have a match at SummerSlam involving a special guest referee. There is speculation that it could be Seth Rollins donning the referee cap for Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk. However, if that match turns out to be a triple threat, Reigns may return at SummerSlam as a referee.
Reigns has heat with Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa. While the former took his Undisputed WWE Championship, the latter took his lei and position as The Tribal Chief. The tension and drama in the match will escalate as fans keep wondering who Reigns will favor or if he might call the match down the middle.
