LL Cool J’s single with Eminem “Murdergram Deux” from his 14th studio album “The FORCE” has been making waves since its release on August 30, 2024. But it’s not just the music that has got fans talking — it is the nostalgia-packed music video.
The music video, released on September 11, takes it to another level. Filmed in Detroit and directed by JakeTheShooter, the video is a love letter to classic hip hop imagery, featuring nods to Big Daddy Kane’s “Long Live the Kane” album cover, LL’s “Going Back to Cali” video, and even the “Bigger and Deffer” album cover. Even more impressively, LL brought the actual car from the “Bigger and Deffer” cover to the shoot.
In a fun behind-the-scenes moment, Eminem could not hide his amazement that LL still owns that car. “It’s so crazy that you still have it”, Em mused. LL shared stories about cruising around Queens back in the day with a car phone (a big deal then) and a top-of-the-line Blaupunkt sound system.
That’s when Eminem chimed in with his own funny car story. He bought a ‘91 car in ‘93, with 93,000 miles already on it:
Mr. Porter could not help but crack up, having forgotten all about Em’s first car.
If the video for “Murdergram Deux” was a celebration of LL’s long-lasting impact on hip hop, this short snippet from the set also showed the fun and genuine friendship between him and Eminem. Fans loved the nostalgia, the music, and especially the behind-the-scenes banter between two of rap’s biggest legends.
