Jordi Alba announces his retirement from Spain after signing with Inter Miami alongside Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets

Jordi Alba has retired from international football with Spain after joining Messi at Inter Miami in the summer.

The left-back has decided to end his career with La Roja after 93 appearances and nine goals. He lead his national team to victory in the UEFA Nations League earlier in 2023 and was a member of the team that won the European Championship in 2012, scoring against Italy in the final.

Alba followed in Messi’s footsteps by joining Inter Miami in the summer, where he currently plays with former Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets. After winning the Leagues Cup, the defender is on the verge of capturing the US Open Cup, as The Herons have already secured a spot in the final.

“At the age of 34, Jordi Alba concludes his illustrious international career. Sincere appreciation from the Royal Spanish Football Federation for this magnificent path. The Spanish football federation thanked Jordi in a statement.

After representing Spain at three World Cups, three European Championships, the Olympic Games in London, and a Confederations Cup, Alba retires as a genuine legend.
